According to Hot Hardware, the new Ryzen 5000 Mobile series family of APUs will indeed be based on AMD’s new Zen 3 architecture, but it also appears that the CPU brand is going to slip some Zen 2-based processors into the mix as well. In total, it’s expected that the company will release a total of six SKUs: three based on Zen 3, and three built with Zen 2.

From the looks of it, the number of Zen 3 and Zen 2 processors that could go to market is split down the middle, although we’re trying hard to understand the logic in having two different CPU architectures. Especially since Zen 3 is expected to have a 19% IPC improvement, both in single and multi-core tasks. At the time of writing, there is still no official announcement from AMD, so take this news with a grain of salt. That said, it’s possible that the company will announce the alleged processors next year during CES 2021, which will be held virtually due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
