Reddit user u/Kalinine caught the artwork being used at the bottom of the DLC page for certain games in the series. Specifically highlighted was Black Ops III, but since the initial post, the image has been replaced with a generic blank image. This looks to apply to other games from the series that’s available on Steam, including World War II and Infinite Warfare. The appearance, and subsequent disappearance, of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II artwork naturally has fuelled speculation. It’s possible that the series is finally making a return to Steam, but the artwork went live ahead of schedule by accident. But while it’s likely to be the case, it’s best to not count on it yet, at least until Activision makes an official announcement on the matter. Though while it’s less than ideal, it’s equally likely that the game may be made purchasable on Steam, but running it would still lead to the launching of the Battle.net launcher. This is similar to the way many Ubisoft and EA games work on Steam, which ultimately still launches the game via the Ubisoft Connect or Origin launcher, respectively. At any rate, based on the previous Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II teaser, Activision may have another trailer coming up on 8 June or July, Hopefully the soon-to-be Microsoft subsidiary says something about this then.
