For those who not familiar with Intel chip series, the U series processors are meant for mainstream laptops which are usually provided with enough thermal and voltage headroom although not as high as gaming laptops. The Y series processors on another hand have lower power consumption and cooling requirement which made them suitable for thin and light laptops as well as fanless 2-in-1 convertibles.
Back to the processors, here is the list of the first group of 10th Gen Intel Core processors that the company has announced to the public:
In its essence, the 10th Gen Intel Core processors feature a combination of the Sunny Cove-based 10nm CPU section and the 14nm Intel 495 Series Platform Controller Hub. 8 out of these 11 processors are also equipped with the new Intel Iris Plus graphics that apparently able to deliver up to 2x performance in Full HD gaming alongside support for VESA’s Adaptive Sync. In addition to that, the 10th Gen Intel Core processors also apparently able to offer up to 2x HEVC encoding performance and 2.5x AI performance. Together with the support for LPDDR4x-3733 and DDR4-3200 memory modules, Intel has also integrated Wi-Fi 6 and Thunderbolt 3 into these new processors.
Intel has stated the company is planning to announce additional 10th Gen Core processors later this month. Meanwhile, expect to see products powered by these new processors to appear in the market within Q3 and Q4 2019. (Source: Intel.)
