Earlier today, the company has spills additional breadcrumbs into the pool and once again has chosen Wired to scoop them up just like back in April. The latest exclusive story, which was then officially reconfirmed by Jim Ryan, the President & CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment in a separate blog post, certainly contains plenty of details about the new console which we have listed them below:

PlayStation 5 is the official name of the new console.PS5 will be released during the holiday season of 2020 – for us Malaysians, that means towards the end of the year.Ray-tracing capability inside PS5 is being delivered through GPU hardware. The GPU can also be used to power machine learning in relation to gameplay and “other tools”.PS5 physical game will be on 100GB optical diskPS5 optical drive also acts as 4K Blu-ray playerThe blazing speed of solid state drive allows a more detailed configuration for game installation including the ability to install a very specific part of the gamePS5 will come with a brand-new user interface that offers real-time information, alongside the ability to join into game sessions at any time. The PS5 prototype controller looked almost identical to the existing DualShock 4 controller for PS4 but is equipped with new features such as the adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and improved speaker. The PS5 prototype controller also comes with USB Type-C port, larger capacity battery, and slightly heavier than DualShock 4 controllers.PS5 devkit physical design looked a lot like the machine that Sony has patented earlier this year.

Since we have more than a year to go before PlayStation 5 enters the market, we expect Sony to serve more breadcrumbs as we get closer toward the launch of the console. With that, we hope this could trigger Microsoft to also unload some new details regarding its own next-gen game console, currently being referred to as the Xbox Project Scarlett. Regardless of that, it looks like the holiday season of 2020 is set to become the start of another new battle for game console supremacy as both Sony PS5 and Microsoft Xbox Project Scarlett will be released at around the same time.
