A leakster known as WhyLab took to Weibo to share an alleged live photo of the device, which revealed the design of its rear casing. Based on the image, the supposed next-gen ASUS ROG Phone is shown to feature a similar design language to its predecessor but with some minor alterations. More interestingly, as pointed out by the leakster, there’s a possibility that the phone will skip a number and be renamed as the ROG Phone 5 instead. This is evident of the “05” seen as part of the phone’s case design. Which also makes sense, seeing that certain cultures find the number “4” as an unlucky number. (image: WhyLab [Weibo])Besides that, not much else regarding the new ROG Phone was revealed – not even its front design. But as vaguely suggested by an initial teaser released by ASUS last week, it is possible that we’ll be seeing a new all-screen front display. As for specifications, a leaked Geekbench listing suggests that the ASUS gaming smartphone will feature a Snapdragon 888 chipset, 8GB RAM and an Android 11 system. Meanwhile, in a separate leak, a 3C listing reveals that the phone will come with 65W fast charging support, but its battery capacity was not revealed. In regards to when we’ll be expecting the new ASUS ROG Phone to be launched, it is likely that the company is aiming for a late March or early April window. This is based on a supposed hint in the aforementioned teaser, where the Aries constellation is seen in the background. (Source: Weibo via GSMArena)
