Konami made the announcement on its website. The progress starts immediately, with microtransactions for Metal Gear Solid V getting turned off. Then on 30 November, Metal Gear Online microtransactions get taken off digital shelves. On 1 March 2022, the game itself will no longer be purchasable via digital stores. And finally on 1 May 2022, all online functionality will be turned off.
While it is the end of Metal Gear Solid V for the PS3 and Xbox 360, you’ll still be able to play the singleplayer portion offline. Though with the economy of the game being so weird thanks to the introduction of extra tier weapons and their excessive deployment costs, hopefully the game gets one last balancing pass so that those things remain usable. All that being said, the game will still continue to work as usual on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. And it’s a much better game to play than the abomination known as Metal Gear Survive. (Source: Konami)
