The differences mainly revolve around the back part of the phone which features aerodynamic lines on the middle part of the Mate 40 RS. At the same time, the rear camera module of the phone is placed inside a hexagonal housing instead of the circular module on other Mate 40 Series devices.
The camera array of Mate 40 RS is identical to setup on Mate 40 Pro+ which is inclusive of a 50MP main camera, 20MP ultra-wide camera, 12MP telephoto camera, 8MP SuperZoom camera, and 3D depth sensor. Interestingly, Huawei also included an infrared temperature sensor on this module which seems like an apt addition that is meant for the current pandemic outbreak. Likewise, there is also a 13MP selfie camera and another 3D depth sensor on the top left corner part of the phone’s 6.76-inch Full HD+ OLED display which also has 90Hz refresh rate. Powered by the same Kirin 9000 5nm processor as per Mate 40 Pro+, the Mate 40 RS also has 12GB of RAM but is equipped with a much larger 512GB internal storage. Completing the Mate 40 RS is the 4400mAh battery which has also powered the Mate 40 Pro+ and Mate 40 Pro. Given its pedigree, it is not surprising that the phone also carries a rather hefty price tag of EU 2,295 (~RM 11,259) in Europe but for now, Huawei has yet to reveal its release plan for the phone in Malaysia.
