SamMobile reports that Samsung has pulled the software version G988xXXU1ATCT off the air for the Galaxy S20 Ultra. Unless you already have it, you won’t be able to install it. But oddly enough the update’s equivalent for the base Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20 Plus have remained intact. The company has not stated the reason behind the removal of the update for the Galaxy S20 Ultra.
That being said, it’s possible that the company pulled the update in response to a display issue that the device faces. Reports indicate that following the April 2020 update, the device has getting green tints on the screen. This appears when the display is pushed to refresh rates above 60Hz, while brightness is brought down to below 30%. The Galaxy S20 Ultra can go all the way up to 120Hz refresh rate. This also happens to be an issue that affects mainly the Exynos version of the device. Samsung is reportedly working on a fix for the green tint issue on the Galaxy S20 Ultra. But with no official word on if that’s really the case, there’s naturally no indication as to when it will happen.
