In an interview with Polygon, Ottille mentions that it is unlikely for Telltale to be making another The Walking Dead series as the rights has returned to Skybound. However, the new business still has rights to Warners Brothers licensed properties, such as The Wolf Among Us and Batman, as well as full rights to Telltale original titles like Puzzle Agent.
Telltale came on to the scene in 2004 as a novel episodic game developer and is renown its The Walking Dead and Tales from The Borderlands series. Unfortunately, due to mismanagement and reportedly toxic studio culture, the studio was forced to shutter its doors back in 2018. Needless to say, both its employees were laid off and games are pulled from digital store shelves.
Moving forward, the new Telltale studio will be based in Malibu, California. It’s reported that the studio is looking forward to winning back the hearts of its fans by re-releasing and developing games based on the company’s best-selling brands. Telltale says that they will be working more on the development and focus of “tools, technology and design in-house”. Details of the re-release and new games will be revealed in the coming weeks.
