To say that the MEG381CQR is larger than usual is something of an understatement; at a size of 38-inches, the monitor would seem more suited for a TV lounge. Were it not for its other gamer-centric features. For a start, it’s got a maximum resolution of 3840 x 1600, which is due to its 21:9 ultra-wide aspect ratio.

On top of that, it’s also a curved display panel, with a curvature of 2300R. Further, the gaming monitor has a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz and a 1ms response time. Last but not least, it’s also a VESA HDR certified display, with a maximum brightness level of 600 nits and also NVIDIA G-SYNC compatible. Of course, the MEG381CQR comes with all of MSI’s usual accoutrements, such as Night Vision and Gaming Echo, as well as SteelSeries GameSense and its own OSD. Of course, what really sets the monitor apart is the built-in HMI display and knob that are located at the bottom right corner of the display. Through it, gamers will be able to monitor their PC’s CPU and GPU performance, as well as activate macro keys.

So far, MSI has not said when the Optix MEG381CQR will be arriving on our shores. Suffice to say, if and when it does, it’s definitely not going to be cheap.
