For those who need an introduction to the game, just think of it as a take on the Left 4 Dead formula, but with a Warhammer Fantasy coat of paint over it. The formula already works well enough as it is, without needing to over-complicate things the way Back 4 Blood did. Fatshark then carefully added the Warhammer flavour that extremely accurate, doing justice to both the zombie horde shooter genre and the Warhammer Fantasy IP. As for why Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is free to claim this weekend, there are two reasons for this. One is to celebrate the seventh anniversary of the first game. Another is for the developer Fatshark to warm fans up to a similar and upcoming game, but set in the sci-fi Warhammer 40K universe instead, called Warhammer 40000: Darktide. Having seen a couple of delays, Darktide currently has a release date of 30 November. There will be some clear differences between both universes, but the familiar formula should help tide fans over, no pun intended. But back to Warhammer: Vermintide 2 being free. On the game’s Steam page, it says that the game is free to keep if you claim it before 2AM of 8 November. But it’s still best to get it as soon as you can, so that you can spend the weekend clearing out the Skaven tide and other parts of the Chaos horde. Those who already own the game would also probably appreciate the influx of new players, while they wait for Darktide to come about at the end of the month. (Source: Steam)
