Basically, the feature enables users to choose how long a message will last until it is deleted. Expiry options include one hour, a day, a week, a month, or one whole year. It goes without saying the outcome of when the message reaches its time limit.

According to WAbetainfo, a clock icon will appear on the message indicating its short-term visibility after posting. It’s definitely a weird yet interesting feature to have, but we’re not surprised if there are users who welcome it nonetheless. Cue Mission Impossible theme here.

This temporary message function is accessible in WhatsApp beta version 2.20.83 and 2.20.84. It’s uncertain if this feature will be included in an upcoming stable update anytime soon. (Source: WAbetainfo via GSMArena | Screenshots by WAbetainfo)
